As one of the largest youth development programs in the United States, 4-H's mission combines fun with education. Through the community of 4-H, youth learn skills they will benefit from forever. No matter what topic a 4-H program focuses on, 4-H always centers around three areas, leadership, citizenship, and life skills.
Leadership
Through 4-H, you acquire incredible skills to become an effective leader. How to stand up in front of an audience and make a speech or presentation or how to conduct a meeting. And what about controlling the butterflies in your stomach? Yeah, we all have them, and learn to get over them. Best of all, 4-Hers learn these skills now, not later.
Citizenship
In 4-H, citizenship is the opportunity to learn how we can make OUR world better. We learn that by helping others, we are actually helping ourselves. Yes, youth can change their world and make a difference! In 4-H, you learn how.
Life Skills
The project opportunities in 4-H are seemingly infinite, and you can always create a new one! 4-H members learn useful knowledge and skills in all areas, from photography, to sewing, to rocketry, to animal showmanship, to horticulture. 4-Hers learn how to work in a group, make new friends, and more, all while having lots of fun.
